Understanding the Language Used in the Service
The following terms appear throughout the Umberswick interface and its supporting pages. Each explanation reflects the specific meaning of the term within this service context.
Information section
A defined area within the service that contains content relating to a specific category or topic. Sections have a consistent format and are clearly labelled. Navigating between sections allows users to move through different categories of organised content without losing their position.
Content label
A descriptive tag assigned to a piece of content within the service. Labels reflect the type, category, or relevance of the content. They are used by the filtering function to allow users to narrow the scope of what they review.
Guided pathway
A suggested sequence for navigating through a set of related content sections. Guided pathways are offered where the service's organisational logic identifies a natural progression between sections. Following a guided pathway is optional and does not affect a user's ability to navigate freely.
AI-assisted summary
A condensed version of a longer content section, generated using AI-assisted tools. Summaries are intended to give users a quick indication of a section's content before they read it in full. They are always paired with the underlying content and should not be read as independent or authoritative interpretations.
Enquiry
A formal message submitted to the Umberswick support team through the contact form on the Enquiries page. Enquiries are used to request access, ask questions about the service, or seek assistance with navigating the platform. The team reviews each enquiry individually.
Support team
The group of individuals responsible for reviewing enquiries and providing responses on behalf of Umberswick Ltd. The support team can be reached directly at [email protected] or by telephone on +44 113 496 0271.
What to Expect When You First Use the Service
Users who are new to Umberswick may find the following overview helpful in setting appropriate expectations before submitting an enquiry.
The service is informational
Umberswick is a tool for reviewing and navigating structured digital content. It does not make decisions for users or act autonomously on their behalf. The service presents information; users decide what to do with it.
Access takes a short time to arrange
Because access is managed through an enquiry process, there is a brief period between submitting a request and receiving a response from the support team. This is not an automated process; a member of the team reviews and responds to each enquiry personally.
Navigation is user-directed
Users decide how to move through the service. Guided pathways are available where relevant but are never mandatory. The service is designed to support self-directed review and does not push users towards specific areas.
Summaries are aids, not replacements
Where AI-assisted summaries appear, they are intended to help users identify relevant content quickly. They should not be used as a substitute for reading the full section, particularly where precision matters for the user's purpose.
